True North: Discovering Your Authentic Leadership
1 to 4 Day Program
True North Leadership: When you tap into your unique expression of leadership, and when you are leading from your “True North” then profound, transformative leadership is the result. Imagine what would happen if you totally understood and were fully operating from your genius as a leader?
Unlike other leadership programs that teach you the latest leadership model, we will help you uncover the untapped model that already lives within you.
There are many leadership models out there that are credibly published in thousands of articles and popular books. Most offer a cure-all prescription of skills, competencies, strengths or intelligences. Yet few work to uncover the buried wisdom and defining stories of the person seeking greater leadership impact. This insufficiency has led to over 2600 CEOs being fired in the U.S during the last two years. Thus, most current models of leadership development clearly do not suffice.
Become a True North Leader
True North leaders are creative, trustworthy, and focused on discovering innovative strategies to meet company goals. In this course, we offer an opportunity for participants to take responsibility for their own authentic leadership, using tools, exercises, and experiential learning.
The True North course provides practical, accessible, field-tested strategies to tap into and develop your authentic leadership. These strategies are documented in “Discover Your Authentic Leadership,” in the February 2007 issue of the Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek articles, and in the bestselling True North (Jossey-Bass: March 2007). The course is based on the Authentic Leadership MBA Program at Harvard Business School and the soon to be released True North Field Book.
Learn how some of today's most successful leaders have styles that flow naturally from their own unique life experiences.
The course is a two-day experience. It includes two follow-up experiential web seminars, as well as group work and individual reflection. In the course you will:
- Identify Your Story: Through your own crucible stories, you will find who you are as an authentic leader (your True North).
- Live Your True North: Find your own guiding principles, and see how to express values, principles, and ethical boundaries in a deeply powerful way on a daily basis.
- Empower Others to find Their True North: Discover how, through accessing your authenticity as a leader, you can support those around you to do the same.
Ultimately, the True North course shows participants how to tap into their own powerful, inner resources and become expert practitioners in their own leadership development.
Thus independent of whether you have 10,000 people or zero direct reports the course is designed to help you access the leader within and make the impact that is needed in today’s world.

Authentic Leadership Participant Testimonials:
Through this Authentic Leadership (AL) experience, I realized my real purpose – to lead with wisdom. That’s something I realized thanks to the AL sessions. Somewhere deep down, you know your purpose. You feel it. But you’re not able to articulate it. In these sessions, in a surprisingly short timeframe – within two days, with complete strangers, you are able to articulate your purpose. So, it has been a fantastic experience. It will help me in making the choices I make while in my current job, and in making choices about what kind of position I would strive for in the future and how I will perform in that new position.
Dolf Van Der Brink , CEO Heineken U.S.A.
This was one of the most profound experiences of my life. The experience was analogous with peeling away the layers of an onion. This forced deep introspection (something that I hadn’t done for a very long time) which created an unbelievable level of renewed self awareness. For me the program design helped surface the “real me.” Whilst these onion layers were being peeled away I realized how outdated many of the tools that I used in business had become. Some needed replacing and others needed sharpening. Most importantly, in this exposed state, we developed meaningful friendships and an extended community that nurtured each of us, helping us rebuild ourselves. I left a far more complete and better human being than when I arrived.
Doug Leather, CEO REAP
Authentic Leadership gave me a deeper meaning as a leader. I can give more of myself to people so that they can do more, can improve more. Authentic Leadership sessions are the foundation for everything else – for making an impact so that others can benefit. I’m going to share this experience with my colleagues, so that they can share with others – and in a cascading effect, it will make the world a better place.
Lucy Darko, Director, Opportunities Industrialization Int.
I’ve been given the opportunity to contribute in building my company into a large organization, but after this experience, I feel compelled to contribute to other people’s lives – to help them discover themselves, to make leaders of them. People will see what they never thought they could become. They will see ahead and believe that they could become better people. This is really a life-changing experience for me. It has made me ask myself, “What do I want to be?” It’s not just about distinguishing myself as an executive, but how I impact the people around me. I would like to make leaders of the people I lead. I had the opportunity to lead because someone entrusted me with the authority to do that, and now I want to give others the opportunity to prove themselves.
