Discovering and Accessing Your Authentic Leadership

 

3-4 Day Management Team Program

There are many leadership models, each offering a cure-all prescription of skills, competencies, strengths or intelligences. Yet during the last two years over 2600 CEO’s were fired in the U.S.. Existing models of leadership development clearly do not suffice.

Our research and practice has shown us that each person has a unique expression of leadership and we show up as a leader when we tap into it. Instead of trying to become a copy of Jack Welch or Larry Bossidy, what would happen if you fully understood and were operating from your unique expression, your genius as a leader? . We call this one’s Authentic Leadership or True North.

ALI's mission is to guide our clients to identify and consistently operate from their own unique True North.

This program takes two programs, our introductory (True North) and advanced (Leadership at the Core), and customizes them for an intact management team. We are all influenced by those we work with. What happens when everyone is operating from their Authentic Leadership? In our experience, issues and challenges that previously could not be resolved or even discussed become easy to address. The time needed to make challenging decisions is significantly reduced, and the level of truthful dialogue about what is really happening in the organization increases dramatically.

Through this program, you will:

  • Discover your own “True North” as an Authentic Leader
  • Understand the principles that allow us as individuals and the whole team to operate from our Authentic Leadership, changing the way we interact, the level of honest dialogue that can occur, and the types of decisions that can be made.
  • Learn to invoke your Authentic Leadership more easily, and experience what it looks like when others on the team do so.
  • Shift a key limiting belief about your leadership into a powerful strength and ally.
  • As a team, address key issues and challenges that previously could not be resolved or even discussed, significantly improving the bottom-line business results of the organization.
  • Develop a new contract as a management team, defining how you will operate at much high level of honesty, authenticity and impact.

Example Structure of a 3 day program:

Pre-Workshop Interviews and Program Customization

  • Conduct in-depth interviews with the participants
  • Development of customized program based on interviews
  • Finalize program with client

Day 1:

  • Overview of the Program
  • Discovering and sharing our True North crucible stories
  • Beginning to understand the difference between a high-performance staff group and a team
  • Defining your own True North and understanding the unique True North of each member of the leadership team

Day 2:

  • Learning to readily invoke your Authentic Leadership by choice
  • Shifting a key limiting belief about your leadership into a powerful strength and ally
  • Dramatically increasing your ability to operate from your Authentic Leadership and seeing how it shows up for each member of the team

Day 3:

  • Defining, discussing, and addressing a previously intractable issue that has a significant impact on the organization’s success
  • Developing an approach to address other similar issues
  • Shifting a key limiting belief that has been keeping the leadership team as a whole from being twice as effective
  • Developing a new contract as a leadership team defining how you will operate at a much higher level of honesty, authenticity and impact.

 

Presenter

Nick Craig has a unique ability to help leaders create strong cultures of execution balanced with grace, wisdom, and compassion. Nick brings his experience applying the Distributed Leadership Model at MIT’s Sloan School and his work with colleague Andrew McLean in the area of authentic leadership development at Harvard Business School. He has also worked for many years with Mike Beer, Director Emeritus of Harvard Business School’s Organizational Change practice, helping top teams have honest dialogues about the underlying issues driving competitive advantage. Based on his collaborations, Nick has developed a body of work which assists leaders in operating from their unique state of authentic leadership.
