Coaching There are many leadership models, each offering a cure-all prescription of skills, competencies, strengths or intelligences. Yet during the last two years over 2600 CEO’s were fired in the U.S.. Existing models of leadership development clearly do not suffice. Our research and practice has shown us that each person has a unique expression of leadership and we show up as a leader when we tap into it. Instead of trying to become a copy of Jack Welch or Larry Bossidy, what would happen if you fully understood and were operating from your unique expression, your genius as a leader? We call this one’s Authentic Leadership or True North.
ALI's mission is to guide our clients to identify and consistently operate from their own unique True North Few paths are more rewarding or more challenging than operating as an authentic leader. Being authentic is not a license to “just be myself”. It requires knowing one’s True North and being appropriate to the situation at hand. Authentic leadership must express itself differently on the manufacturing floor than in the corporate boardroom. At the same time, if a leader is playing a role that is not his/her authentic self, no one will be fooled. Our one-on-one coaching program is designed to help leaders deepen their ability to uncover and operate from their authentic leadership, acting within the real-world dynamics of their organizational environment. We have all experienced times when we were able to operate from this basis. All too often, though, our ability to draw upon it when we need to make decisions, set direction, or influence others is fleeting. Our coaching brings together our extensive experience in the area of authentic leadership. Our approach is grounded in our work with the True North Authentic Leadership program at Harvard Business School, co-designing and delivering the MIT Sloan Distributed Leadership Model coaching program for top executives, work in the area of sports psychology invoke states of high performance, the latest breakthrough research on neuroscience and leadership, as well as strength-based models from the University of Michigan.
