Authentic Leadership True North 360
The Authentic Leadership True North 360 assessment instrument is now available to all online. Currently being used in the Authentic Leadership MBA course at Harvard Business School, and based on the True North research, this 360 has been designed to give executives exceptional insight into how and when they are leading with the highest level of effectiveness, particularly in challenging times: living their purpose, operating from their strongest values, motivations and capabilities, empowering others and significantly advancing the mission of the organization. With the September 1st release of his latest book, 7 Lessons for Leading in Crisis, which already has climbed to #3 on the business best-seller list, Bill George has enjoyed great reviews, a surge of recognition and a growing appreciative audience. Sailing True North with 200 Crew on the USCG Eagle Tall Ship
Nick, undoubtedly in his “sweet spot”, and in a perfect blend of vocation and avocation, convinced the U.S. Coast Guard to let himaboard their three-masted Tall Ship and share the power of authentic leadership with the crew as they raced in late July from Boston to Halifax. We think you will enjoy the Wharton@Work article, “Confidence Is an Inside Job” (Click here to view article) that captures some of the magic. Also, the picture to the right was taken by Nick hanging 150 feet above deck!
We look forward to hearing from you as the fall continues to unfold.
With best regards,
Nick and Tim

Beirut Welcomes Authentic Leadership
Following Tim’s highly successful keynote address at the American University of Beirut’s Strategic Executive Leadership Program earlier this year, he was asked to return to the American University of Beirut in late October to lead Authentic Leadership seminars for all new students at the Olayan School of Business.
Speaking to an audience of Beirut business leaders and the university community, Tim’s spring presentation on “Authentic Leadership: If Ever There Was a Time” took place before the Lebanon elections. Among the questions Tim raised were “Who are the effective leaders in the Middle East right now? What are their stories? How do we get them involved?" and "How can each of us lead with more authenticity, and when do we get started?"
Harvard Medical School’s Executive Coaching Conference
In late September, Nick led a workshop at Harvard Medical School’s second annual executive coaching conference. Working closely with Dr. Carol Kauffman who leads Harvard’s Executive Coaching and Positive Psychology Initiative, we are excited with this expansion of our Harvard affiliation.
More Details on the Authentic Leadership True North 360
Unlike other 360’s, this instrument does not evaluate performance against previously defined corporate competencies. What it does do is help individuals identify who they uniquely are at their very best and how they can move from good management to great leadership by tapping into their own authentic core.

The Authentic Leadership True North 360 can be ordered in one of two packages:
- Online 360 with customized automated report and self-help guide: $200
- Online 360 with customized automated report, self-help guide and
two personal telephone coaching sessions: $1500
The coaching sessions provide clear steps for interpreting the data, creating personal authentic leadership development plans, and linking them to specific business challenges and objectives.
For individual orders of either option and for more information, please click here to initiate your order, billable by credit card.
For group orders of either option, please call +1 978 772 4827 to discuss your needs and initiate your order, billable by corporate invoice.
Multi-Cultural Application of Authentic Leadership
While our programs were not designed originally with a particular cross-cultural focus, they have resonated strongly with leaders from outside the United States, including these recent participants from Africa. Together, we can make a difference.
“(It) was one of the most profound experiences of my life. The experience was analogous with peeling away the layers of an onion. I left a far more complete and better human being than when I arrived.” —CEO, South Africa
“(It) gave me a deeper meaning as a leader. The Authentic Leadership sessions are the foundation for everything else – for making an impact so that others can benefit. I’m going to share this experience with my colleagues, so that they can share with others – and in a cascading effect, it will make the world a better place.”—Director of HIV/AIDS Programs, Accra, Ghana
“This is really a life-changing experience for me. It has made me ask myself, ’What do I want to be?’ It’s not just about distinguishing myself as an executive, but how I impact the people around me. I would like to make leaders of the people I lead.” —Corporate Treasurer, Lagos, Nigeria
Final Reflections
“My life is my message.” —Mahatma Gandhi
“People think of us as a product of our successes. I’d actually argue that we’re a product of the challenges we faced in life. And how we handled those challenges probably had more to do with what we accomplish in life.” —John Chambers, Chairman & CEO, Cisco Systems
“I think the goal for each human being ... is to live the life that you choose, that’s in your heart, that’s about something bigger than yourself.” —Maria Shriver
