Jack MacPhail, Senior Consultant
Jack MacPhail is a Senior Consultant for the Authentic Leadership Institute, a leadership consulting firm committed to creating leaders and organizations with a deeper purpose and the courage to transform their business impact.
Client work with the Institute has included West Point and Wharton, with additional work in the banking and pharmaceutical industries.
Jack is a senior executive advisor with extensive global experience at the executive level. Described as possessing unique ability to identify and solve human-related business challenges at senior levels, MacPhail is recognized for delivering unfiltered honesty with tact and aplomb. With more than 40 years of professional, military, and athletic experience, both "doing" and "consulting", Jack has the ability to integrate multiple perspectives, commercial acumen, and global knowledge in addressing difficult challenges at the senior-most level. He has developed a particular expertise in working with financial executives (and their teams) being groomed for senior level general leadership positions.
Jack enjoyed a diverse career prior to work with the Institute. Beginning with years of high school and college hockey, to service with US Army Counterintelligence and Special Forces, to successful careers with JP Morgan Chase, Senn Delaney Consulting, and Korn Ferry International, Jack honed his interpersonal and team-based skills. Most recently at Korn/Ferry International, he was Managing Director-Americas for their Leadership and Talent Consulting business. Over five years at Korn Ferry, Jack and his colleagues institutionalized the leadership business as a key component of Korn Ferry's talent management strategy. At Senn Delaney Consulting, he rose to Executive Vice President and member of the Management Committee.
Upon graduating business school at Cornell, Jack started his professional career with the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. During his 24 year tenure at Chase, he held both global line and staff positions in the US, Europe and Asia. He concluded his career there as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Global Corporate Bank.
MacPhail is a graduate of Nichols College with a BA in marketing, and of the Johnson School of Business at Cornell with a Masters in Public Administration. Other experiences have included serving with the US Army's 5th Special Forces Group during the Vietnam conflict, and on Kibbutz Ashdot Yaacov Ichud in Israel.
He resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Sandy.
